Nick Salterio

Trimble Team

Nick knew he wanted to be in the trades since high school. He became a Red Seal Plumber through BCIT and is working towards his Gold Seal Certification in construction management. Nick worked his way up the ladder for twelve years to become a foreman for small and large sites and crews. He designs, installs and troubleshoots systems in low-rise and high-rise wood and concrete buildings in residential and institutional settings.

During his time in the field, Nick noticed a trend: the younger generation didn’t know the correct procedures for robotic total station systems for layout work. So, he designed an in-house layout training program with a classroom curriculum and a simulator. This program has helped train a new generation, while achieving better job outcomes and better results for clients. Nick has been at True Mechanical for 5 years and finds the team very accommodating.

Melody (Mel) Davies

Journeyman Plumber, Lead Hand

Mel switched careers to plumbing to gain a trade and broaden her career opportunities. It’s been nearly a decade since she’s become a plumber and she hasn’t looked back, driven by the excitement of working on different jobs and constant opportunities to broaden her skillset. Mel has her Red Seal Plumbing Certification and is working towards her Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management at BCIT.

Mel is excited to see how technology is going to positively impact the plumbing industry. For example, BIM technology helping trades be even more coordinated than ever, while technology advancements in environmental construction such as LEED are teaching different ways to enhance efficiency. Along with the constant learning opportunities and the satisfaction of seeing how a huge project comes together, Mel also loves working on a team and the great interpersonal relationships she's developed.

Michael Ramos

Occupational and Health Safety Manager

Michael’s experience as a plumber and gas fitter, combined with his attention to detail, is perfect for devising effective on-site safety solutions. In collaboration with True Mechanical’s leadership team, Michael has created and led the company’s safety program since 2016. Along with developing and maintaining the company’s health and safety program, Michael conducts safety training and onboarding. His goal is for everyone to remain proactive and stay ahead of the curve.

Investing in employee safety is investing in the company's future.

Michael is passionate about ensuring everyone does their job right so they can go home safely at the end of each day. Since working for True Mechanical, Michael has become a certified National Construction Safety Officer, Gold Seal Certified Safety Practitioner, and has his Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. In addition, he is working towards his Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional.

Blaine McCartney

HVAC-R Foreman

The trades run deep in Blaine's family. He joined his brother and father in plumbing right after high school, trained at BCIT, and worked in the industry for ten years. But never one to stay still, he took a chance on a new career in HVAC-R in 2003, got his apprenticeship at the Joint Apprenticeship Refrigeration Training School (JARTS), and worked with some of the greatest mentors in the industry.

As True Mechanical grew, Blaine chose to grow alongside the company and take on a leadership role. He thrives on taking on larger-scale projects that challenge his skills and enjoys opportunities to solve problems with his team. Blaine looks forward to giving back to the industry by sharing his knowledge and helping others develop careers at True Mechanical.

Marcel Kunsuik-Mengrai

Field Logistics, Layout

Marcel has a background in mechanical engineering and studied at UBC. He joined True to gain new experiences and get his career off to a flying start. Marcel works as a member of the Layout team, providing a bridge between what is drawn on paper to what is built on site. His goal is to fully support the crew and foreman on site, providing real and constructible solutions.

Marcel started his time at True with Soleil, and is now working with the Layout team on a number of high-rise residential buildings across the Province. His team has grown since its inception and Marcel loves surrounding himself with people that support and learn from each other.

Hadi Hashemi

Project Manager

UBC alumni with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Mechanical Engineering backed with a Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma from Camosun College. Experienced estimator with an extensive history of working in construction. Knowledgable in cost estimation, tender closing, producing submittals, creating work orders, cost tracking and invoicing.
