This expansion on the north UBC campus needed to deliver new student residences to meet significant demand while building to LEED Gold Standard in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

The 34,500 m2 development required reliable and easy-to-maintain mechanical systems, 2,300 new beds, office, amenity, and service spaces to create an enhanced living and learning environment. This included VRF and higher-end finishes on the portion of the project also dedicated to summer rentals for students and summer visitors to the campus.

Commercial Plumbing

Our plumbing specialists are masters in water and gas supply and wastewater drainage systems. We work with contractors, trades, engineers and planners from preconstruction to installation to ensure the job gets done right.

HVAC-R

We excel in pre-planning and collaboration, the crucial steps to provide reliable, quality HVAC-R systems for our clients. Our HVAC specialists have expansive experience in heating and cooling systems in all settings.

VDC-BIM

Our Virtual Design Construction (VDC) capabilities, which include Building Information Management (BIM) modelling, ensure our clients have complete 3D renderings, organization and workflow processes to anticipate any complexity.

Warranty Services

Our extensive two-year warranty program covers any mechanical system that we install. Our warranty team is quick on their toes and takes pride in their work. We make great things happen and guarantee our systems to last.

Prefabrication

Our prefabrication hangar has the capacity to address large scale mechanical contracting needs while ensuring quality and precision. Our collaborative process ensures a high-quality product that fits accurately and saves on build time.

Project Outcomes

Our team kept up with the fast pace of the project while implementing piping distribution solutions that relieved congestion within the suites and future serviceability. We assisted in developing new standards for energy transfer station installations, which included our team’s VDC solutions with 3D room scans, Revit Design for stress calculations and weld maps for fabrication and paperwork submission processes. We successfully worked with the client on cost strategies through value engineering and alternate solutions and worked with the mechanical engineer to rework distribution and design optimization.
