Project Overview.

A 5-storey academic building for the UBC School of Biomedical Engineering combining research and learning within a single building. In every aspect and detail of its architectural structure, the new SBME building will reflect the flexible, ever-shifting nature of medical innovation itself. Makerspaces and “wet” and “dry” laboratories will be built on a grid; walls will be movable and lab benches realigned according to the demands of a given medical challenge.

The same can be said for the mechanical systems at the heart of the building. Our VDC team will build the systems virtually working from 2D design in order to fully enable our onsite and prefabrication teams to optimize installations for a flexible and high end user experience.

Commercial Plumbing

Our plumbing specialists are masters in water and gas supply and wastewater drainage systems. We work with contractors, trades, engineers and planners from preconstruction to installation to ensure the job gets done right.

HVAC-R

We excel in pre-planning and collaboration, the crucial steps to provide reliable, quality HVAC-R systems for our clients. Our HVAC specialists have expansive experience in heating and cooling systems in all settings.

VDC-BIM

Our Virtual Design Construction (VDC) capabilities, which include Building Information Management (BIM) modelling, ensure our clients have complete 3D renderings, organization and workflow processes to anticipate any complexity.

Warranty Services

Our extensive two-year warranty program covers any mechanical system that we install. Our warranty team is quick on their toes and takes pride in their work. We make great things happen and guarantee our systems to last.

Prefabrication

Our prefabrication hangar has the capacity to address large-scale mechanical contracting needs while ensuring quality and precision. Our collaborative process ensures a high-quality product that fits accurately and saves on build time.
